STUDY ON FAILURE MECHANISM OF SILICON RUBBER GD414 INDUCED BYGAMMA IRRADIATION

  • The performance parameter of polymeric substance will be affected by the irradiation of 60Co γ-Ray. In this paper, the influence of radiation on the mechanical property and TML of the silicon rubber GD414 were studied and the failure mechanism were inferred by several methods, such as the mechanics test, the vacuum out-gassing test, FTIR and XPS. The mechanics property decreased after an obvious increase. The TML decreased significantly. Those significant changes provided information for inferring the mechanism of crosslinking reaction. The FTIR and XPS analysis result could prove it.
