INFLUENCE OF HIGH ENERGY ELECTRON RADIATION ON STRUCTURE OF BLACK POLYIMIDE FILMS

  • Employing double bundles accelerator, black polyimide (PI/C) films are radiated by high energy electrons. Changes of surface shape, chemistry structure and component are studied through the methods of SEM,ATR-FTIR and XPS respectively. Results show that PI/C films become rougher after irradiation, because high energy electrons break the low energy bond of PI/C which changes the material surface in experiment. After electron irradiation, the absorbing peak intension becomes lower in a lot of molecules in PI/C surface through infrared spectroscopic analysis. It is indicated that complicated chemical reaction has became in PI/C surface. The ring of imides' has been break down, because absorbing peak became obviously weaker than before. On the other hand, through the XPS analysis,it is found that the oxygen and nitrogen content is fewer than before because of PI surface chemical reactions. It also proves electron irradiation destruct the ring in PI/C surface.
