Experimental Research on Molecular Contamination Procedure of Silicone Rubber Influenced by Ultraviolet Radiation

  • Based on the ASTM E1559 standard, the ground experiment of molecular contamination from silicone rubber is implemented, including the case of ultraviolet radiation on the contamination material and the deposition surface respectively. The deposited contamination mass is measured by the Quartz Crystal Microbalances(QCM),the component of outgassing production and the characteristics of the deposited substances are also tested. It is revealed that the UV radiation has significant enhancement effect on the outgassing and deposition procedure of molecular contamination. For the outgassing phase,UV radiation leads to the increment of mass loss of the material, and the variation of outgassing production component. For the deposition phase,UV radiation leads to the fixation of the deposited substances, which results in the increment of deposition and the difficulty of desorption of the sediment.
