Research Progress on Superlubricity Behavior of Carbon Related Materials

  • Superlubricity specifically referred the lubrication state that friction coefficient in the order 0.001 or less. The engineering application of superlubricity material is of great significance to the unreplaceable moving parts, such as space vehicle and accelerator vacuum motion device.Among the superlubricious materials,carbon-related materials are the prominent one, including graphene, graphite, carbon nanotubes, diamond films, amorphous carbon films and so on.In this review, the research status and development of microscale superlubricity, macroscale superlubricity and solid-liquid composite superlubricity of carbon-based materials are introduced. Finally, the potential challenges of the engineering application of superlubricity materials are proposed.the authors believed that how to achieve the all-regime superlubricity of solid film and solid-oil composite superlubricity will be a major research direction.
