Effect of Fin Form on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Hampson Heat Exchanger

  • The miniature Hampson throttling refrigerator is widely used in electronic device cooling,of which the efficiency of the heat exchanger plays a decisive role in the performance of the refrigerator.Using the real physical parameters of argon, the steady state three-dimensional numerical simulation of Hampson spiral finned tube heat exchanger is carried out.The flow and heat transfer performance of spiral finned tube heat exchangers with annular fins, helical fins, serrated fins and twisted serrated fins are studied. The results show that, compared with spiral fins, twisted serrated fins significantly increase the flow velocity near the wall and reduce the dead zone, increasing shell side Eu by 119.16%~121.14% and Nu by 38.98%~40.35%,which have a good comprehensive strengthening effect for both flow and heat transfer.Annular and serrated fins can increase shell side Eu by-3.53%~-3.97% and 94.82%~95.74%,and Nu by 0.27%~0.80% and 29.62%~30.97%.As a result, the PEC criterion numbers of them are greater than 1,and the comprehensive effect is improved.
