Stability of Output Current of the Constant Voltage Power Supply for Stirling Cryocooler

  • Stirling cryocooler is widely used in infrared chip cooling due to its compact structure and high efficiency. The infrared detector system usually uses a constant voltage power supply to power the Stirling cryocooler. Aiming at the infrared detector demand for a multi-temperature region cooling,in this paper the influence of multiple Stirling cryocoolers working independently on the output characteristics of constant voltage power supply is studied,and a driving control experimental system of the Stirling cryocooler is established. The experiment has demonstrated that there is a large fluctuation of output current from the constant voltage power supply. It is found that the current fluctuation is caused by the Stirling cryocooler driving control circuit,which affects the reliability of the system power supply. Therefore,the control strategy of two cryocoolers driving in reverse phase is proposed and the experimental results displayed the current fluctuation is significantly reduced. The study provides a reference for the design of infrared detector and its driving control in the applications of the multi-temperature region cooling.
