Developing Active Screen Plasma Diffusion Equipment for Stainless Steel Products

  • Active screen plasma diffusion equipment was designed and manufactured.The low temperature plasma carburizing process for AISI316L austenitic stainless-steel pin used in automobile turbocharger has been developed.After plasma carburizing with 435℃ and 30 hours, 24 parts from different position on carburizing fixture were tested.The sur-face hardness is 917~1 279 HV0.05, the diffusion layer thickness is 16.7~27.1 μm and no rust was observed after 720 h salt spray test.The results meet the requirements of the pins.The results strongly proved that the active screen plasmas carbu-rizing technology has advantages in low-temperature carburizing by achieving both high surface hardness and strong corro-sion resistances.
