Research Progress of Hollow Glass Microspheres for Cryogenic Liquid Storage Tank Insulation

  • As a new type of insulation material, hollow glass microspheres are considered to be an alternative to perlite for low-temperature liquid storage tanks because of their good insulation performance, non-sedimentation and low maintenance cost. From the aspects of production process, product performance, thermal conductivity mechanism, application advantages, engineering examples and future development direction, the research progress of this new material for low-temperature liquid storage tank insulation is reviewed, and the feasibility of large-scale production and application is discussed.
