不同工质材料毛细管型脉冲等离子体推力器工作特性研究

The Influence of Propellant Materials on Working Characteristics of Capillary Discharge Based Pulsed Plasma Thruster

  • 摘要: 毛细管放电型脉冲等离子体推力器(Capillary Discharge based Pulsed Plasma Thruster,CDPPT)采用固体工质、电热加速模式,无需储供机构,系统简单紧凑、可靠性高,在微纳卫星应用中具有显著优势。从CDPPT的基本工作过程入手,针对聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)、超聚乙烯(UPE)、乙烯-四氟乙烯共聚物(ETFE)、聚甲醛(POM)四种不同工质材料下的推力器工作特性开展了试验研究,着重分析了不同工质材料下,随放电次数的增加,推力器放电特性、工质烧蚀质量、输出力学参数的变化规律。在此基础上,分析了工质材料对推力器工作过程的影响机制。结果表明:工质材料对能量沉积过程的影响较小,不同工质材料的烧蚀通量差异较小。由于不同材料分解组分的相对分子质量存在较大差异,影响了等离子体电热加速过程,改变了推力器输出特性。研究结果显示,ETFE和PTFE的元冲量和推功比高,ETFE的参数一致性较好,UPE和POM的比冲参数较高。

     

    Abstract: Capillary discharge based pulsed plasma thrusters have great prospects in the application of micro-nano satellites in orbit maneuvering.This paper systematically studied the influence of different propellant materials on the thruster’s discharge characteristics,energy deposition process,ablation characteristics,output thrust parameters and plasma plume pa-ra-meters.The experimental results indicate that propellant materials have little influence on the energy deposition process,and the difference in ablation flux of different propellant materials is small.However,due to the large differences in the rela-tive molecular mass of the decomposition components of different materials,the plasma electrothermal acceleration process is affected,which in turn affects the thrust characteristics of the thruster.ETFE and PTFE has high impulse bit and thrust to power-to-power ratio,ETFE has better uniformity in output parameters,UPE and POM could achieve high specific impulse.
